Saab 9-5 neutral safety switch

Apparently in 2000-2001 Saabs there's a fairly common problem with the neutral safety switch (gear position indicator switch) that causes intermittent starting problems. Did some research and found that replacing the switch usually fixes it. It's under the battery and battery tray, so those have to be removed. One of the bolts that holds it down has a stud on top that bolts to the transmission dipstick, so you have to pull that out, too.

Just finished doing the job, and it seems to be working. Unfortunately, the part is about $300 and not real easy to find.
 
I had the same with a clutch switch. Would not start.I just cut the wires and twisted them together.

This. And just be careful in the future when starting!
