RYOBI 2-STROKE TRIMMER FLOODING PROBLEM

I have a Ryobi 720r string trimmer. I put new fuel lines on it (the old ones rotted off, I'm not sure which went where). It only runs on half-choke, so I adjusted the carb. Both are now 1.5 ccw from fully closed. It still only runs with half-choke.

The big problem is that the carb drips fuel. Fuel runs out of the carb in a stream. I have reversed the two fuel lines but that didn't help. It has no muffler or air cleaner on it.

What would cause the fuel to run out like this? Will running with no muffler/air filter hurt it? (I won't trim with it this way, just trying to get it to run.)

How do I tell which fuel line goes to which carb input? Is there a general rule-of-thumb on this? One has a fuel filter on it, I do not know what the other one does.

I'd get a rebuild kit and soak and rebuild the carb, this usually does it. Remember to replace the diapragm and all.

think the other is the return line. when in doubt get a schematic sheet on the trimmer or take it to a repair shop. you should run a filter and muffler. you should of switched the lines around before messing wioth the set screws. you prob really screwed it up now.

sounds like the carb is leaky or may have been stuck or gummed open. pull it off disassemble,clean and rebuild it. you need to adjust with the cleaner assembly on and a clean filter then go back to where the original settings were as a starting point.
