Rust fix with spray on bedliner

I noticed some surface rust on the rear of the front wheel wheels and on the front of the rear wheel wells as well as along the frame rail under the car. Rather than attempt to match the paint/finish I decided to go with a spray on bedliner and masked off the areas to make it look like the plastic body cladding to protect the wheel wells on some vehicles. As a bonus, spraying the underside of the frame rails visually shrunk the visible side profile of the car.

I went through the proper steps (sanding, rust converter, sanding, primer, sanding, bedliner) so I wouldn't have to worry about the rust coming back.

Opinions on how it turned out?

I hope bedliner is stickier than undercoating; I did my rocker panels with undercoating and it flaked off within months.

Not bad! I'm doing something similar to my Buick this summer with POR-15 on the rocker panels I replaced last summer.

Its hard to even notice. I thought about doing this on the front side of my trucks rear fenders, as they seem to be getting beat up pretty badly. I'd probably need a color match as the area would be a lot larger than what you did, and it would look goofy.

Its been about 3 weeks so far. I chose the bedliner after having read about the different experiences people have had with both doing similar repairs. Its supposed to be much more durable, chipping wise. I put on about 6 coats when I did it.

I have been using this stuff from 3M it holds up for many years.
Napa has a good chip guard product also in white or black that is paintable.
