My grandpa is getting up there in age and has a 1988 ford ranger extended cab pickup that does everything he needs. It has grown 2 small rust spots (smaller than a dime) that I can find. One is on the inside of the drivers door at the bottom. You can't see it from the outside with the doors closed. The other is on the underside of the lip of the fender at the top of the rear wheel well. This also is not observable unless you get down and look up at the wheel well.
Since repairing this isn't worth the money, is there something I can spray, apply, coat, etc. to cover the rust and prevent it from spreading? He has mentioned his buddies do this when they are restoring model Ts but he doesn't know what the product is called.
Thanks for any advice.
