Rural King supposedly replacing Prime Guard with Wix.

The PrimeGuard filters have disappeared from the shelf at Rural King in Gainesville Fl. Gone. Filled with Wix and Fram.. The PrimeGuards are not even in a clearance section either. They probably went into the dumpster behind the store.

On a different note, Dollar General has a shelf full of PrimeGuard filters now. The Newberry road store in Jonesville has them. They are more than $1.99 though.

I would be surprised if they went into the dumpster. Generally in a reset if the stores themselves do not clearance them, the incoming brand takes the old brand stock inventory and then wholesales them out to secondary market that is usually the Rock Auto clearance items and certain Ebay sellers that deals in such type of inventory.

I figure talk is cheap. If we complain about overseas manufacturing taking over, then do our small part in not letting it.
The Japanese automakers didn't explode their share of the US market in the 1970's because Americans started hating America. They did it because the American automakers thought they had a captive customer base they could abuse and ignore at will. I also want to support American manufacturing but not at the expense of my engine.

Quality comes well before country of origin on my list of purchase considerations.

No one said anything about hating America is buying a Chinese oil filter or a Japanese car. That’s exaggeration. We also bought vw bugs in large quantities. Volvos, and others. Europe and Japan liked smaller cars generally ahead of the US. It’s a testament to our people’s fairness to others, then, that we bought cars from two countries who we were just at war with. One attacked our country directly.
There are still adequate USA choices in oil filters. Oil filters won’t be made in USA unless people continue to buy them.

If the quality keeps going down while the price keeps going up why would people keep buying them when other better choices in quality and price are available. If they allow their product to go down hill, then it's their own fault and they better hire some better people to figure out how to successfully compete in the oil filter world. Pretty much goes for any consumer product these days.

I paid almost $10 for a US oil filter that was very shoddy when I examined it after use. I paid <$3 for a Korean one that was much higher quality. I'm not getting the extra quality I'm paying for.

Support shoddy American manufacturing that gives you trouble or a good Korean or Japanese vehicle and parts that will last over 300lk miles and probably 20 years or more.

I’m willing to support any American manufacturer that’s willing to support me with a quality product, but my Ford was made in Mexico and my Chevrolet was made in Canada.

When I said “I want to support American workers” I meant US American, not North American.

I try to buy American when I can and when it’s quality. As far as oil filters go the only brand I’ve ever had actually fail (not just a small media tear) was Fram extra guard. I’m sold on PG filters. The Vietnam made ones seem to be far better than the China made as far as quality control goes.

With that said I am going to try a Boss on my Ram the next oil change, I’m curious how it does so I can cut it open.

You said American manufacturing but left out they do shoddy quality. There’s a HUGE difference. I buy Prime Guard and CQ Premium as they are quality. USA made filters are junk these days.
