Running QS Winter Oil All Year Long ....

Anyone think it's okay to run QS Winter Oil year round ?. This is one of those subjective things, but ever since I started running QS's Winter Oil in my 2001 Dodge Caravan the engine seems to run much smoother and quieter, the oil has been clean and doesn't burn a drop. I used to run Castrol GTX but I think the QS Winter Oil has worked better (subjective of course). I started running the Winter Oil in 5w30 last fall and all winter months. I want to keep running it in the current warm weather too, I will go to a 10w30 weight for summer though. I think they just add some synthetic components to the oil for better winter operation, so I think it should hold up fine in summer weather too. Can't remember who it is , but one of the QS guys on this site said it was a very high quality blend with higher levels of synthetics than some of the other blends on the market. Does everyone think this is okay to run year round ?. thanks for any info.

I will let Johnny call this one, but...I'm doubting synthetic components and the VI is super high. They probably got there with a very thin base, a lot of VII's, and pour point depressants. I'm thinking it is a Winter only and maybe regular QS would be preferred the rest of the time and a lot more stable.

their website states the quick oil flow characteristics are due to synthetic components. The operating viscosity is 10.3 cst on the 10w30 and 10.5 cst on the 5w30, viscosity index seems pretty high at 174 for 10w30 and 207 for 5w30. No idea if they use alot of VII's ?. I think it was Johnny who said the product was really high quality. Oddly enough the pour points aren't anything out of the ordinary IMO, -35 for 10-30 and -45 for 5-30.

Shouldn't be a problem running it year-round.

Why not just go with Esso XD-3 0W30 instead year-round? You get the benefits of a Full Synthetic HDEO, and the stuff is dirt cheap with probably the lowest wear numbers posted to date in the used oil analysis section.
