My winter tires are too worn out for winter use so I decided to run them this summer. Contrary to the thought they would “ chunk out” they are wearing out normally. I guess the thought that they are too soft for summer is countered by the thought that old winter tires “ harden up”. They are down to 4/32 and will get replaced this fall. Enjoy.

Here in Vermont, we put our snow tires on around August 15, and take them off the following June 15.
I have a set of Conti WinterContacts on the xB in my sig. Left them on spring of ‘23 to try to finish them off. They’re still on it, they refuse to wear out (hard as a rock)!
I like to buy a new set of winters every 2nd October and run them year round.
I run my worn winters in the summer too. I've got Blizzaks that are 5 years old and run them in the summer, and on long trips too; Michigan and NYC a couple of times. They are nearing the end of life now with a little feathering and some added noise at higher speeds.
I still have some old Yokos that I kept to run on the Subaru all year also.

Well maybe if you are in your sports car, but I object your honour. These are “soft compound” tires shaved to 4/32’s. In fact, because of that they may handle better than new summer tires. In any case they are on a my truck and they handle fine.

What will the all weather crowd do come winter? Do they replace their tires early to get above 6/32" like where the snow wear bars are?

On the other hand, Crazy Canuck Drive is a couple of miles north of Whistler, BC.
I only buy snow flake symbol tires and have two or more sets of wheels for every vehicle.
That way worn winter tires get run off in the off season.
Summer being the off season.
