My luck with vehicle's has hit a all time low. All my vehicle's that are under warranty in the last month have experienced failures that should not have happened. Let me explain and vent for awile.
2002 BMW 325i. I had to take the BMW back for the same problem twice within a month. Leaking A/C o-rings rendered the A/C inoperable two times in less than a month. The throttle assembly also had to be replaced (drive by wire) because it was sticking. The only good part is that the dealer(Valley BMW in Modesto) is one of the finest dealerships I ever had to deal with for warranty work and are very professional. I would buy another vehicle from them in a heart beat.
2005 Mustang GT. My master cylinder reservoir was leaking brake fluid. When the service writer looked at it he remarked that I should not of overfilled it. I have never touched it and responded that I guess this dealer does not do PDI's anymore. In took 3 days for them to replace the master cylinder. When I picked up the car, I noticed that the vehicle was wet. It was not raining. The service advisor ran my BLACK vehicle through the spinning brush car wash. Now, my Mustang has surface swirl marks and water spots. They totally ruined the finish of the car. After complaining, I was told I should not have bought a black car if I was going to so "picky". I almost lost it. The DHL commerical for lack of customer service is true.
I had to call the Ford service hotline and they had me take to another dealer to see what could be done with the finish of the car. The Body Shop manager looked at it and was not sure if it could be brought back and I might have to have the car repainted. Unbelievable.
2004 BMW R1150RT. Over the weekend, I was cleaning my bike and noticed oil leaking down the Paralever arm(single sided swingarm). I took the bike to the dealer on Tuesday and was informed by them today that it was not gear oil but was cosmoline. What a crock. I have had this bike for over a year and now the cosmoline starts to drip and puddle? I don't think so. I explained to them that I knew the difference between cosmoline and gear oil, they didn't care. I guess gear oil leaking on the rear brake assembly and the rear tire is of no concern. It must be too much work for them to find out what is actually wrong. I will be taking it to another dealership.
My most reliable vehicle is a 4yr old Toyota Echo with over 108k and never has had a problem of any kind.
What does all this mean? Bad luck? Poor workmanship? Lack of customer service? My patience is running very thin. Anybody ever had this string of bad luck like this before?
