RTS "CI-4" 5w-40 vs. Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w-40

.....for a KLR 650?

I'm currently running some old stock of Red Cap M1 15w-50 but I was going to change it before the snow flies.

Is anyone using M1 HM 10w-40 in their cycles?

i have not as of yet, but I do have some SL maxlife 20W50 im going to run at some point.

My guess is that the rotella will hold up better and not shear as much but I could be wrong. For occasional starts in the lower teens the rotella 15W40 would work too and would probably hold up better than the syn rotella

10w40 shears quickly. m1 is no better.

SRT blue 5w40 shears pretty quickly as well in our shared sumps.

i used to own a KLR 250.

if i was gonna pick an oil for cold flow ability that goes into a bike.....Castrol Syntec 0w30 (GC) would be it.

RTS and RT both sound good to me. And their prices are both less than M1. I ran the RTS in my air cooled big twin Guzzi last winter.
