RR. Ghost Oil Change Cost

I rode in one my brother rented for his wedding. I do like the heritage and the mystique of RR cars.

I would buy one but fear the attention it would bring.
Not as a status symbol but because of its uniqueness.

I drove my FIL’s to the water park with my wife and daughters today as we are visiting in Florida and didn’t rent a car. Shockingly, we were the only Rolls in the lot. :) I went to get the car and get it cooled down while the kids did a couple more runs down the slides. Got a bunch of thumbs up from multiple 5-10 year old boys which made me smile. It’s definitely a bit much for a daily driver in most areas but Naples has a ton of them.

Its true for most expensive cars. Thats why all the $100k BMWs depreciate like crazy once they are out of warranty.
I knew a guy that bought a Land Rover, and the trans started going so he took it back to service for a warranty repair. They threw him the keys to a Rover loaner - he had that loaner for a year....

They always have like 20 loaner vehicles on the lot. We know why...

Wheras, Lexus gives you a RX/ES/CT/UX loaner even for a minor service. Lexus policy states for repairs/service taking more than two hours, you’re eligible for a service loaner.

I rode the bus by the local Mercedes dealer today, the service drive was full of Nissan and Hyundai rentals from Enterprise or Hertz. It’s one thing if I bought a Toyota or Honda and needed a loaner, but if I dropped coin for a Mercedes and needed service, a Versa or Elantra would be an insult.

At an actual dealer though, is it $650 just for the oil change or is it a service that includes an oil change and several other maintenance items?

"RRs are big money pit"

'Just traded in our 9 year old Ghost on the updated 2021 model. Got a return of about 1/3 the original cost towards the new one. Only one item went bad, the driver door automatic closer. No recalls, four years of free included services, free pick up and delivery to the dealership for the services and always spotless on return. No creaks or interior noises, looked and drove the same as new after the 30,000 miles we put on the car.

Yes, the oil change only takes twenty minutes. There are small twist off covers for the drain plug and the filter so the bottom cover does not have to be removed. These can take a lot of time on other vehicles. The filter and plug are directly on the bottom and not up and behind frame members, no spillage, no clean up, truly the easiest oil change there is.

Nice … but, I have to wonder the percentage of RR owners who do their own oil change …

Only 30,000miles in 9 years, you never even broke it in, nothing had the opportunity to break, because you never drove it, so you paid like over 200 something grand for it to never use it and lost 150 grand in process, so even though you never drove it enough to have anything break on it, it was still a money pit because it lost like 150 grand mostly just sitting for 9 years.

FYI: Most of the milage was on Motorcraft 5W20 semi synthetic engine oil. They recommended 5W30 M1 for the old Ghost. The new one recommends 0W30.
