lol I think that is on purpose to make the video longer for revenue.
Agree with both of these points. I stopped watching and moved on to better content.
I don’t know, maybe. Personally, I just think he’s not very good at explaining things, especially when he’s not 100% sure of what he’s talking about. I’m not saying I’d be any better at it on certain subjects, but I don’t have a YouTube channel where I make videos to “educate” people either.
I’ve watched plenty of videos that were just as long and the people were clear in the points they’re making. Ivan @ Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics is great at walking you through his process without rambling endlessly.
Ha. I saw this yesterday and thought there was nothing at all wrong with that filter. He also had a video where he replaced a customers BMW transfer case (or maybe it was the front differential) because it failed after he did a fluid change. He ultimately believed it was because he didn’t use BMW fluid.
It was a combo transxle on the BMW they messed up on using incorrect grade and spec Valvoline Gear oil instead of the correct spec and grade fluid. Have to give them credit for owning up to it and putting it on video.

But I don’t think there was anything specifically wrong about the fluid he used other than it didn’t say BMW on the bottle. Some people in the comments mention that perhaps detergents in the fluid used dislodged debris from manufacturing that ultimately caused the failure.

IIRC, the vehicle calls out some spec fluid that would be called a quasi GL4+ fluid that is not an official API classification but basically is a GL5 rated fluid that is yellow metal safe and designed for high pinion diffs. The Valvoline fluid used was not yellow metal safe and was a standard GL-5 fluid.
The wrong fluid was used.
