royal purple oil filter who makes it?

Pablo is right.

AMSOIL licenses the SYNTEQ media from Donaldson for their EaO filters. It is the best filter media in the world. If AMSOIL's numbers are the same as the Donaldson SYNTEQ filters in terms of efficiency, then the only thing comparable is going to be a Fleetguard with their synthetic glass media, which seems to be basically identical (this omits the dual-stage Stratopore filters with built-in bypass filtration).

You look at what works in the Diesel world. They have 10-micron ratings for all their filters at 2 flow ratings. In my research for "the best oil filter", I looked at all the readily available filters and Donaldson was the most efficient.

This is much easier with Diesel filters because of the standardized testing method spec'd by Cummins. We do not have that data for automotive filters.

You will love Amsoil, resistance is futile

No. It's a thread about the new Royal Purple oil filters. Someone made a comparison, someone made a statement. The subject has not changed.

My post was actually more about Donaldson. AMSOIL happens to use their media.

Donaldson is superior. But their filters are not readily available for most automotive applications.

Anyone here from Colorado seen the Royal Purple filters in a Pep Boys yet? I checked a few weeks ago and they didn't have them but have not been back since.

Couldn't tell you. But, according to UOA and particle count, the Mobil 1 filter catches more of the particles than the Amsoil during short runs.

Not true. You need to read and understand how Blackstone does those "particle counts".

I am pretty sure its an established fact that while the M1 traps more [censored] early on, it can't match the service length of the Amsoil.

Within the restrictions of similar can sizes, you can't have super filtration and super service life. Something has to give....

Honestly though, does it really matter? We should all run supertechs and be done with it!

Royal Purple Filter from Champion states synthetic media.... I use a Purolator Pure One and it is less than half the cost of a Royal Purple... I guess you pay for the name

Purolator PureOne does not use synthetic media, so I don't see how those two can be compared.

It is Fiberglass enhanced as is Royal Purple and the Mobil 1 filter... Champion Labs when contacted stated "cellulose reinforced with synthetic fibers"

The Royal Purple and Mobil 1 do NOT use the same media. The Royal Purple media is a 100% Fiberglass media.

We spoke with Champion Labs on the phone and our shop purchased one and cut it open...(Will try to get pictures later) It is indeed (at least the one we bought) blended media... We are also trying to get ahold of a Pentius filter as they have to be special ordered through Advance Auto http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/Product...tType=1&PTSet=A

This is one that I am really curious about

That is interesting as what they said would make this page incorrect.

http://www.champlabs.com/royalpurple.aspx

100% synthetic micro-glass media

Don't belive everything you see and the filter media we have is indentical to M1.. Perhaps different part numbers different differ... As M1 some are Champion some are Purolator...Any way If i can get one with full synthetic media we want to do a flow test on it as restrictive issues that have surfaced.

I cut open a Royal Purple filter a couple of months ago and my findings were it was the exact element as the E-Core. Exactly at lease on that particular application. A car came in for an oil change and it had that Royal Purple filter on it. I just had to see what was inside of it and sure enough an E-core element was inside of a fancy shell. It looked nice it even had purple anti drain valve on it too... The customer actually wanted oil changed with Quaker State Synthetic and requested a real good filter (I used a Purolator Pure One). Sometimes these things aren't what they are cracked up to be. I myself have seen other companies do the same thing as mentioned earlier in reference to Mobil 1 filters some applications are made by Champion Labs but thankfully are non E-Core design and at the same time other applications are Purolator design. Let the buyer beware as your wallet is the one getting hurt.

That is amazing you saw one a couple months ago, first post of them on this site was like a month ago and I emailed a guy at Royal Purple asking about the and he said they were brand new and that was a day or two after I saw the first post on here.

Then for the post above you I have never heard of a new Mobil 1 filter in the black canister to be made by purolator.

Weird.

All the boxes I looked at pictured base-end bypass and said Champ as mfg.

You are right, the Y stamped in the metal is different as are the mounting gaskets.

They're both Champ filters. Champ used to have the bypass valve design on the right filter; not it's a blue spring loaded valve like the left filter.

Exactly. The poster did not see an RP filter. They have been on the market 1 month tops.
