Email RP and ask them. They'll tell you what the base oil is.

For RP 5w20, the base is Grp IV.
Badtlc: Sorry, nothing against you ata all but I really, REALLY doubt that. Mobil 1 0w40 is mainly VISOM grIII base "synthetique Technologie". I would consider a TechLine email or phone call roughly equivalent to 'used car saleman veracity'. I would need to see a Korean MSDS just as a start to probe base oil %.
Please know that I'm discussing RP's API spec oils, as RP's Race stuff is probably not as cost considered - Even LUCAS make some killer real high group synthetic race oils.
Sorry about the hastily typed response; I meant that I dont trust any casual converstaion or email from a tech line - they can and WILL tell you anything if you are not a high dollar race team.

I like some RP products, and use their SyncroMax gearlub in my BMW gearbox; a great improvement in shift quality over a dino ATF.
I also like their 0W/5W-40 oils, not on par with Mobil 1 but close.
But I consider their 5W-20/30 SN oils to be below average synthetics and considering their premium price any syn' bought sale to be a better choice not to mention saving some coin.

Regarding your 2000 Volvo, I thought an A1/B1 5W/10W-30 was originally spec'd for the car, not a heavier A3 oil?
Unless the engine is consuming copious amounts of oil I'd just run any 5w30 syn' my preference being Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 particularly for winter use.
