Royal Purple 20-500 filter C&P

Here’s the filter from the last OCI on my F-150 5.0 before I traded it. It had 7,435 miles with HPL P.P. 5W-40, this was the second run on HPL with 2k of HPL E.C. 30 on the run before that. I was amazed at the amount of carbonaceous material that was in the filter given this truck had quality lubes it’s entire life.

I see that stuff on the base plate & HPL probably helped there. Did you use 5w-20 beforehand?

champion labs. same filter as the endurance and amsoil.

I see that stuff on the base plate & HPL probably helped there. Did you use 5w-20 beforehand?

I’ll have to take the media off, but out in the sunlight I could see little black specks of carbon material between the pleats as well.

I used Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 from when I purchased the truck at 30k miles until 104k, then switched to Schaeffer 5W-30 until 160k. Then HPL 5W-40 to 175k.

Thank you, I still have two more filters I need to cut open so I should get some practice .

HPL and a Fram FS10575 went back in. Unfortunately I won’t be able to see the results as I sold the truck a week ago. Now to figure out what to run the in the new one lol!

I say HPL no VII 5w20 or 30 and a Fram endurance
