What are you smoking? LOL... I have been using it for 30+ years in small engines and have had zero failures.

If my B&S ever fails, I'll take it apart and see how the plastic cam looks. I'm not gonna hold my breath though.

I too would appreciate seeing "real" data that supports irongoat's claim. Empirical evidence is good when the masses contribute to the subject. One man's empirical evidence does not support what's going on in the rest of the world. As such, irongoat's claim, in my opinion should be dismissed until proven otherwise.

I've also run Rotella T 15W40 and 10W30 in all of my very numerous four stroke machines from high performance motorcycles to lowly, ancient rototiller engines. I've used it for close to ten years in engines known to have plastic components (Hondas in particular). No issues so far.

From my experience, I've learned that there are certain people who manage to sift out the most obscure and irrelevant pieces of "theoretical" information and try to manipulate it into mainstream reality. Despite their apparent ability to ferret out this data, it seems that it is often misunderstood and pushed to the forefront of their reasoning. Not unusual for participants with extreme OCD issues. Not saying that is the case. Just relating from personal experiences interacting with these personality types.

I only use M1 10-30 in all my OPE, including my old Honda walk behind that is 23 years old, that I gave to my son. A 40 wt oil is not needed in OPE, unless the engine builder requires it. The M1 you are using is excellent in OPE year round in any kind of temps.

Ive used Mobil Delvac 15w40 for several years in my landscape business with zero problems. It protects everything i use daily from my power washer, mowers and my skidsteer and everything in between.

Nobody expcts the Spanish Inquisition.

Perhaps Mr. FeGoat might consider his sources prior to making black & white utterances going forward in the future here at BiTOG...

Give it a few days, let the smoke clear a bit & consider your next post a bit more carefully. Makes me laugh all the same...!

John.

I've got 16 Honda powered air compressors and 7 generators onsite. I use rotella t in the summer and 5w-30 in the winter. A couple of these compressors have in excess of 15000 hours on them. 100 hour intervals. I use mos2 every second interval and a home brew fuel additive.
I've not had even a gasket replaced in any of them.
So empirical evidence......gimme a break. Prove it.

I call "[censored]" on this. Doesn't bother my Honda GCV.

Pretty much every small engine manufacturer going back to the 1960's recommend detergent oil.
The owners manual for my 1968 John Deere 112 garden tractor specifies detergent oil (they used Tecumseh and Kohler engines, and detergent were speced for both)
I don't know where this myth comes from, but I hope it dies soon!
