Was at my local Wal-Mart yesterday (SE Michigan) and noticed the Rotella T synthetic 5W40 has jumped up in price. No more $3.37/qt and $12.83/gallon. The price stickers on the shelf were dated yesterday, so it must be a very recent change. If anybody is using this stuff, you might try to stock up before your Wal-Mart raises the price.

My Wal-Mart is now charging $4.92/qt and $18.88/gal.

Its still $12 a gallon in Marquette, MI and Flint, MI. Pretty good bargain at $12. Pretty crappy at $18.

Rotella 5w-40 was $18.xx a gallon. Then Wal-Mart lowered it to $12.xx a gallon. If, indeed, Wal-Mart has raised the price back up again, you'd be better off buying Delvac-1 or Amsoil for the same price.

It was still $12 and change at my Wal-Mart a couple days ago.

I'm a very satisfied Rotella T Syn user, but if the price goes up, I'll switch back to Mobil 1.

Come up to Canada, and go to Canadian Tire, they sell a 4L jug (4.2 qts) for $13.99CDN, which is $9 US.

It would be had to pass on the Mobil Delvac at 5.00 bucks a quart, the going rate here where I live. To get that price a 4 gallon case must be purchased = 19.79 per gallon

Mobil Delvac I is available from AvLubes (George) who is a site supporter on this site. I think even with shipping their price is competive as it is $23.99 plus tax a gallon here at the Flying J truck stop. So no tax and just shipping could be cheaper than most sources.
Give them a call or e-mail, just go to the top of the main page for Site Supporters and click on that and then Exxon/Mobil. If you want a True Full Synthetic 5W40, Delvac I is at the top of my list.

About 3 weeks ago I scooped up a few quarts of Rotella T 5W40 at Wal-Mart for $2.00/qt. This seemed like a great price for this oil. The gallon containers were somewhat higher per quart, which seemed strange.

I haven't been back to see if there's any more left at $2/qt.

Around here the price fluctuates, for no obvious reason, between $12.xx and $19.xx per gallon jug at Wal-Mart. No real reason that I can see!

The reason is so Walmart can put a sign on the shelf saying they rolled back prices again. They think consumers are idiots.

I bought 3 gal of Rotella T syn 5w40 at my local WalMart last night for $12.xx...same price as before. OTOH, the price of a 5 qt jug of M1 has increased from $17 to $22.

I've yet to locate any Rotella T syn in quarts, either, and my Toyota also uses 4.5 qts.

I just buy another gallon of Rotella syn or top off w/ dino Rotella T at $1.74/qt (I change the oil at 3K intervals, so it doesn't really matter much; too much dust in the air here to run anything 5K miles, IMHO). If I had a pre-cleaner/snorkel combo, I could run longer intervals.

I've seen two different prices, at two different Wal-Marts, in the same town!

Wal-Mart Supercenter = $12.88 / gal

Regular Wal-Mart = $18.88 / gal

Same day, same city, just two different stores.

Pat this is for the "synthetic" 5w40 Rotella? I'm thinking of recommending this oil to my boss for easier winter starts in their diesel truck. Currently they use the Carquest 15w40 all year round.

On second thought I don't think this can be a synthetic oil for $13.99 though, since I've also seen Rotella 0w40 synthetic at Canadian Tire and it's $29.99 for a 4L jug.

It's $12.xx "rolled back" from $18.xx in ME. Figure that was the fastest up-and-down anything has ever done, assuming the price increase was when announced on this bbs.
