I recently changed the oil in our 97 Tracker. I'm not sure if it's the oil, the LC or both working but not even 100 miles into the oil change, the is starting to turn brown! When I changed the oil, it was clear. Right now the color looks about like faded light brown.

Now that I think about it, Rotella being an HDEO that it is plus LC in there, it's surely doing some serious cleaning. I'm just impressed how quickly the oil is turning color,,,,AR

It may not just be cleaning, as some discoloration is thought to be heats effect on the oil's additives, which does not signify that there's something wrong. Interesting note though.

Yea, I expected to turn color quickly but not this fast! Since joining BITOG, I've learned that the color of used oil has nothing to do with it's peformance so I'm not worried if there's anything wrong.

If it keeps turning at this rate, I would love to see what it's like at 1000 miles

I bought 3 gallons of rotella T 10w30 on closeout from walmart a few months ago. I haven't used any of it yet. With a HDEO and LC, maybe some cleaning is going on. what kind of oci are you gonna do with this combo?

I'm trying to get the engine cleaned up. Maybe I'll only keep the OCI at 3000 miles even though LC is in there. Once I dump the Rotella + LC, then I get some M1 5w30 + LC in there,,,,AR

Why would you not stay with the Rotella?

Not a flame, by any means, but I have a hard time figgerin' out why an oil is excellent for cleaning (and cheaper) but not for everyday use. Will you use it again in a few months/years to clean again?

What am I missing?

BTW, I'm a Rotella T 5W40 user - 24/7/52.

This is my first personal time using Rotella. I'm using it for the rinse phase in the Geo after running ARX for about 1000 miles.

Will I use it again? Sure! **** my Dad remembers using it when my Grandfather owned Heisler's Trucking back in 60's & 70's. Only problem is locally yea AZ sells Rotella, but it is only avaliable in 15w40 and SAE 30. Out of town in Lima, hometown of my college, AZ and Advance pretty much sell the same thing. Anyway, yes I will use Rotella again, not just for cleaning and yes for DD's

Not to bash you C.S. but I just prefer M1. I use it in my truck and all the other vehicles(1 is short coming to have, Geo will soon have it or something else I dunno) **** we use it in our lawnmower. I'm sure Rotella is great oil, it's been around for,,,,,,,well,,,,,,,ever,,AR

I use 10w30 Rotella in my chrysler 3.3 in the summer. The car will burn 1qt every 2,000 mi. with a PCMO but will not use any Rotella with a 4,000 mi OCI.
