Nothing against RTS 5-40, a magnificent product when used where it's supposed to be, just not the best for Ford Modulars. Guys at the Ford Truck
forum have documented issues of Mod engine problems related to use of heavier than spec'ed oil.
YMMV, and, it's your $$$$, but I can tell you that every Modular we've ever had (15-20) has been run on 5-20 or 30 from Day 1, and we routinely get 200K or more out of 'em before the PA road salt eats the bodies away.
Our weather is similar to yours, colder winters about the only difference.
Ford spec's the GT500 and Ford GT (both Modular engines) for a 5w50! And Ford spec's a 10w30/5w30 for the VCT engines in Aus, 5w40/15w40/20w50 for the older ones (like this 2V).
I've been extremely happy the the results thus far with the 5w40 in my 5.4L. Including the complete elimination of consumption, even with being driven hard.
I stand corrected!!
