Yes, but you won't have to continue to wear this outfit when you play pickleball eight out of 12 months per year.Yeah there is a reason everyone down there over 60 looks like a road kill lizard.![]()

I think Tide is a base. Which as I understand would actually help algae.Lots of lore about Tide powdered detergent. It kinda works.
I know what works: copper sulfate. But can leave stains on lighter colored roofs and copper in the runoff? Can kill vegetation
Zinc sulfate should work. Ordered a couple pounds.
Especially on the north side of your house.Yeah some we can't cut - neighbors fenceline trees on shop side - house has no trees overhanging but when wind blows unpreventable from the forest the amount of small debris. For sure though, cedar trees and other evergreens are worse than any deciduous tree around here.
Then you did not use it properly.Doesn’t work. At all.
You assume much. I used the Costco kind multiple times over the years at my old house. It did NOTHING. I followed the instructions to the T.Then you did not use it properly.
No trees around the house thank goodness, just the west side of the shop.Especially on the north side of your house.
Most (not all) algae prefer slightly acidic conditions, soaps do tend to be on the basic side, and I doubt Tide, a soap/detergent would help it grow with other goodies in it.I think Tide is a base. Which as I understand would actually help algae.
I like bleach for killing stuff. The ratio is up to you, I normally go no more than 10%
Most have zinc, sometimes copper, some have both.Newer asphalt shingles contain copper granules mixed in with the rest of the granules. It prevents moss and mildew for 10 or 15 years.
The problem areas are the downspouts from the second story roof meeting the lower roof. Basically the downspouts pour right on the roof by design and the junk builds up there and near there.
Copper sulfate kills tree roots. That's what's recommended if you have a pipe blockage.Lots of lore about Tide powdered detergent. It kinda works.

It would look goofy on the front of the house. Will post pictures later.I like it when builders extend the downspout all the way to the first storey gutter. Could you do the same?
I can scramble rocks and hike in the mountains all day @ 66 YO. But the roof pitch just won't let me throw my leg up there. EVERYTHING, every part of my body, including my 'nads, just says NOPE. So I sheepishly climb off the ladder.I'd lay a copper or zinc strip in that gutter.
You have shot down every suggestion. Call a roofer.I can scramble rocks and hike in the mountains all day @ 66 YO. But the roof pitch just won't let me throw my leg up there. EVERYTHING, every part of my body, including my 'nads, just says NOPE. So I sheepishly climb off the ladder.
That said, it wouldn't help with the dank NW green growth to the right
No, some good ideas back and forth. No one here seems to use dry, which works the best on heavy build up, which was the point of my OP. Wasn’t really asking for suggestions - but shot down? No, I hadn’t shot down Spray and Forget. I'm going to try it - especially on the green area to the right in the picture above. You have shot down every suggestion. Call a roofer.
Good choice to stay off the ladder. Your wife is counting on you being around and productive for awhile.I can scramble rocks and hike in the mountains all day @ 66 YO.
