rodents chewing fuel lines - what can be done?

I might try spraying everything underneath with a rust protectant. Maybe the taste or smell might deter the critters , atleast it won't rust. I tried the Irish Spring trick recently on a stored tractor and a few riding mowers. The mice I was trying to control ate the soap.

Be aware that mice can squeeze through the tiniest of openings, so a garage is not much protection. Traps or bait stations are good insurance.
Yeah, if a rodent's head fits through an opening the body also pass through. Not sure about grossly obese rodents. As for mice in the garage, my friend has that problem. It's because he stored chips and other snacks, and cat and dog food in the garage. It's like a pantry for mice. I'm surprised he doesn't have rats.

I went throuh 2 plastic see through fuel filters on my lawn mower. I went to use it one day and it started and died because the fuel tank was empty. The next time i went to use it it was the same deal so I replaced it with a metal on problem solved. I dont know what is going on these days with animals. They are eating things they never had before. Deer eatng Hydrangea, Hybiscus, coreopsis fir trees and a ton of other things. Its like they are starving, which may be the case for deer.

I like the honda tape idea it seams the most logical. other chemials may harm rubber and plastics. I know some of the rubbers and plastic insulation are getting some soybean oil in the manufacturing process. Good luck

Squirrels ate my solar heating panels for my pool, (leaking) as well as two garbage can lids and my mailbox flag!
Could be worse, squirrels are eating mice in California!

Using any of the poisons that work as blood thinners to control rodents has a certain risk -- if a dog eats the dead rodent the dog can also be killed. Sometimes the dog can be saved with a very high dose of Vitamin K in a high fat diet, but the dog may never fully recover.
Poison bait is also really bad for owls. Owls are awesome and eat pests, let's do what we can to keep them around.

Just a note of caution when using glue traps ......In the throws of death the mouse can do more damage chewing than is negated by the trap 😳 don't ask me how I know

Turns out they purchased some type of rodent repellant along with the new fuel lines. Wraps around the fuel lines. Should be good to go now.

When rodents chewed the wires under the hood of my daughter's CRV I installed a device that uses blinking LED lights to scare off the critters. I attached it to the battery cable with zip ties and aimed it as best I could at the engine wires. I checked it last week and there was a big nest on the side where there were no lights, but no wires were damaged as far as I could see.
