I just tried to order Motorcraft 5w30 oil from Rock Auto. They said they couldn't ship to my address (38843). Any idea what gives?
They would let me order other brands of oil.

Do you have a town or city sales tax at the delivery address? I know that affects some deliveries in Colorado. Don't know if that affects anything in Mississippi.

The Motorcraft product(s) are in some warehouse extremely far away?
Doubt it.

Nothing major
where are you at. If its in the Hurricane affected area, it may be a while before people will ship to you.
Nope
How about walmart.com?
Walmart - 3 days shipping ~ $12/quart

Just frustrating that the only place that even lists it on the web locally is O'Reilly and there I had to call (web page said $8.99, Free Pick Up not available, Item not sold in selected store. Call Store to Order) and they had some, at ~$9.50/quart.

And the Ford Dealer was OOS when I called.
Rock Auto had it for $6.34, plus about $1 shipping (based on cost of other oil they can ship to me).

Rock Auto is usually so simple.

How much do you normally pay for it from Rock Auto? I bet you could get a full synthetic for about the same price or less from Costco or Walmart and could pick it up today with no shipping charges

Why bother with Rock Auto for motor oil? There are alternatives which as just as good as Motorcraft.

My area Walmarts have Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 5W20, 5W30, and sometimes 10W30 on the shelves for less than US$6 a quart. Why not just do a Walmart run and buy enough that the savings versus purchasing online would at least offset your fuel cost?

As mentioned above, it isn't unique or magical. Having had an '02 Ford Vulcan V6 engine run nearly a half-million miles using mostly Motorcraft Synth Blend 5W20 at 5K OCIs, it does offer a certain peace of mind for me that other oils don't.

It is unique.
There may be other oils which are exactly the same, made in the same batch, same factory with a different label but don't have the Motorcraft label, doesn't matter to me.
What matters is why Rock Auto can list it but not ship it.

In what way?

If there are others that are exactly the same then it is not unique. Label is about the last thing you should even consider. That is a very silly determining factor for a motor oil.

And stop obsessing about Rock Auto. Plenty of other threads that run that theme. Contribute to one of those complaint threads if that is your actual point of this thread.

A lot of things cant be sent to me because my state requires a May cause cancer sticker on every item sold. If something does not have that sticker it cant be sold or sent here.
That's new information for me. I've had plenty of things shipped to me from out of state locations and never noticed such a sticker.

I have had issues with my local post office refusing to deliver oil. They attempt to claim that its not supposed to be shipped via USPS because its in violation of their rules. When I read the rules I see that its not. They misunderstand certain values such as "flash point" and just reject it. Its futile to argue with them, the postmaster at that branch has spoken and shall not be questioned. Its possible that the distributor at RA has run in to similar issues in the OP's area and just decided it wasnt worth the grief

I think your best option is to ask them why. The internet can only speculate.
