I would pick up my owner's manual before anything and read what it says about the break-in procedure. Many new engines aren't supposed to be driven at consistent highway speeds for X-amount of miles during the break-in period.
I don't think anything bad would happen, but why risk it if you have a lot of money invested in a new vehicle? I'd rather be safe than sorry and make sure it's okay to take it on the trip before worrying about an oil change.
