RIP Tom Petty

His Wikipedia has now taken off his date of death. We'll all keep him in our prayers.
 
Sounds like it's official now, he's gone.. I Saw him at red rocks and in Iowa this year, asked my fiance to marry me during "learning to fly". Such a legend, he'll be a part of our lives and so many forever

I was really hoping to see something from Tom this morning saying the reports of his demise were greatly exaggerated.
I remember Petty showing up on It's Garry Shandling's Show and seeming like a regular guy who liked poking fun at his status as a star.
I had no idea he had such a rough life and even turned to heroin for a while...he managed to give us a lot of great music despite all that.
Thank you, Tom.
 
His cover songs were nearly as good as his originals, really understood and appreciated the roots of rock n roll.
