He was one of the original founding members of Kansas, and a great musician, live and in the studio. He sang and played the violin. Kansas was a monumental band, one of my absolute favorites and they had a huge effect on me in the 70's and 80's. Dust in the Wind will not be the same the next time I hear it. RIP.

Thank you for posting this. I missed this in the mainstream news.

Like some of you have already commented, Kansas was a great band and I have many fond memories of listening to their music. I guess it is a sign of the age as most of these bands from this era are loosing their founding members. Kansas, Foreigner, Boston, Styx were all great bands of the era. There are also many more but it also shocks me when I think about my own age and cannot believe I am as old as I am...LOL.

RIP Robby, take comfort in knowing that your music touched many of our lives who enjoyed it.

Saw them back in 83 with Heart at the Spectrum. Phenomenal musicians. I can't listen to Dust in the Wind anymore though without picturing Will Ferrell.
