RIP Levon Helm of the Band

His fight with cancer took a turn for the worse last week and he passed away today.

In addition to his fine singing and drumming, he was also a skilled mandolin player and appeared in several movies. A man of many talents. RIP

Now I am REALLY sad that I did not catch him at the Wellmont Theater (or one of his Woodstock, N.Y. "Midnight At The Barn" shows) last year.

Yes, RIP, Electric Dirt Farmer.

Now I am SUPER motivated to catch Guy Clark in concert for the first time (despite being a fan from 1972), before I can no longer do so.

Garth Hudson is alive. I saw them with Bob Dylan and also warming up for the Grateful Dead. One atof the great bands of era.

RIP Levon. Been listening to him since around 1969 when I was 8 years old. I always liked seeing him in the movies too. A huge loss.

He had a very cool and interesting voice. The average joe could know the songs (and the voice) and not know the man's name.

His daughter, Amy, (whose mom is Libby Titus, co-writer of the great song, "Love has No Pride") is also quite the voice/talent.

She heads up the band Olabelle.
