Stopped by the dealer yesterday on my way home. The service department was very busy, but I did get to talk briefly with one of the techs. Based on my quick description, he did confirm that Mazda does have throttle mapping programming which would suppress multiple throttle presses on a single clutch pedal press. He indicated this was for "safety" reasons. Next time I'm in to pick up oil, I will revisit this conversation with them and hopefully get more details about what I see as throttle lag in some situations and how the throttle mapping is intended to work in general.
