Israel will ban Boeing 747 and similar aircraft with four engines as of March 31, 2023 to reduce noise and air pollution, its airports authority said on Sunday.

Wouldn't more flights with 2 engined aircraft be required vs 4 engined aircraft to move the same amount of cargo and passengers? On the face of it, the new rule doesn't make any sense.

Probably a moot point since most airlines are running twin engine aircraft now. Cargo aircraft might be different though.
