I have a buddy who is incredibly cheap but pretty clever. He's been reusing Auto RX by draining the oil with the Auto RX in it into a clean pan, straining it (through a coffee filter I think!) and saving it for a second or third use. If he has any ARX left in the bottle he'll add an ounce or two to freshen the mix.

Just curious what you folk would think of this.

I think that it looses its effectiveness after 1500-2000 miles, and becomes inert.

Tell your friend to get some class.

Reminds me of that commercial where the guy gets out of the shower and towels off with that dirty towel.
Auto-RX suspends dirt in the oil that's how it moves it to the filter. At some point the dirty fluid can't be filtered as the particles are too small. That's why there is a rinse phase in addition to the clean phase.
Don't reuse dirty oil.

Auto-Rx is not re-usable because there is no chemistry left in the oil after the cleaning phase. So Kyle, tell your friend not to re-use the ARX.

Leave him alone or you come up with a better way to transfer the sludge from one engine to another. I think he's pretty smart. Most would get their hands all dirty making a sludge transfer and we might not get as much of it, either. I'll bet the makers of Auto-RX never though their product could be made in the sludge transfer product. There's no end to the things one can learn on the Internet.

I don't know about the rest of you but my jaw drops at the thought of somebody literally sifting through a bucket of filthy used oil to try and save $20.

Apart from the fairly obvious "what the **** does he think he is accomplishing?" other than transferring filth between engines

does your friend take his urine and filture it and drink the water left over like in the movie water world. I would bet your friend takes 2 ply toilet paper and seperates it and rerolls its on 2 holders.
