Returning iPhone 15 four hours after purchased

Meh, not easily findable customer support number does not offend me.

The best one that happened to me was calling my internet provider, when my service was out, and having to listen to their automated message system informing, that to check the latest outages in my area, I should visit their website🤣. Yeah, why didn’t I think of that?

Not sure what you are talking about? Did you click the link I posted above? It's a common webpage as far as I know. Ill try it right now on my wife's Windows laptop
go to apple's webpage and enter an erroneous ID, and follow the different pages it takes you to. Not on any of the pages is 800 my apple (apple's tech support number). I discovered the number after the I phone was returned.

As posted earlier, when I did call 800 my apple, the very nice tech support person told me my issue was not resolvable. I didn't fully believe that and fixed the problem on my own. I AM STILL BLOWN AWAY APPLE DOESNT POST THEIR TECH SUPPORT PHNE NUMBER IN A EASY TO FIND MANNER ON THEIR WEB PAGES WHERE CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE PROBLEMS ARE. That is pure arrogance.

I am sure if I was a staffer at a congressional office, I could have called any one of the hundreds of lobbyist Apple pays on their personal cell phone , and that lobbyist would have had a senior Apple tech support person call me back in minutes.

You fixed the problem but still returned the phone? Meaning you are not using an iPhone?
As far as your experience, well, we all know, Apple products arent for you :) (said in a friendly tone)

No, the problem was resolved after I returned the phone. The Verizon manager himself could not get the phone past the enter the Apple ID screen. The requirement to have a Apple ID working on the phone may be a requirement of the latest IOS update and the I phone 15. A few months ago, one could bypass having an internet connection to setup a new Windows 11 home system, without trickery. The latest version of Windows 11 home does not allow bypassing the completely unnecessary requirement of connecting to the internet, unless one uses trickery.

Maybe I’m missing a detail, but all Apple devices require an internet connection to register before it’ll register with a cellular provider.

Not sure about the Apple ID thing to use it though. I have a work iPad that I’m not allowed to register an Apple ID with and it uses a cellular connection. It did have to be connected to WiFi to do the initial setup just like every other Apple device I’ve ever owned. It’s the only Apple device I haven’t ever logged in with my Apple ID immediately.

Not using an Apple Account as they call them now would mean that you’d have method of backup or Find My iPhone features if anything happened to the device. Apple isn’t known for selling everyone’s information like Google. I’m not saying not to use Google, I just don’t see the downside with registering an Apple Account.

@GON - for the Grandkids use WhatsApp. It has all the facetime things also. I was on a Galaxy for a long time. If the kids sent videos normally they were blurry. They had to use WhatsApp so I could see it. Wife switched from Galaxy to iphone further back when kids were younger. I finally changed over when my Galaxy was dying, not on newer 4G at the time and dropping calls often. I still liked many things better with the Galaxy but the charging needs with Waze needed a lot more power also. My phone would overheat on trips and shut down. The iphone hasn't had that problem, yet. I don't do many extra things on it. Calls, Waze, Pandora, YT and some internet searching.

My kids on the other hand use Ipads, MacBooks, and iphones for PA school, OT grad school and everything else. The devices link to each other and cloud so they can access as needed from either one.

I've gotten mostly used to it but was more savvy with the galaxy. Some things on the iphone to me are a real PITA.

Viber is an excellent app. As long as you have an interest connection you can make phone calls or send large video, photos, text messages to anyone else anyplace in the world, for as long as you want at no cost. Using your phone number.

I assume What's App owned by META/FACEBOOK is much the same (not sure about the phone number) and why used by most USA kids and adults.

If you buy at Apple Store or online directly they give you 15 day to try phone and are helpful with setup. If you return including Air pods you just need original box and they take back.

Having your Apple ID proper is critical before setting up any device. It’s very secured down . My dad continuously forgets his and such a pain. Finally I am a person they text or call with a code to help reset it.

Earlier today I purchased a I phone 15 from a company owned Verizon location.

I paid the store $35 USD to setup the phone. The store could not get my Apple ID to work. I had an Apple ID that I haven't used since 2018 for an iPad where I purchased e-books.

The store told me just to go home and work on it. I spent the afternoon trying to get my ID to work, or establish a new apple ID account. The store stated I had 30 days to return, with a $50 USD restocking charge. I will be paying the restocking charge. I can't get the phone to do anything past the enter your Apple ID screen.

Neither worked. After trying a few hours, I could not find a way to contact Apple. I am sure there are ways, but Apple is not making it easy.

Guess I am sticking with Android- I assume google is no better if one needs support, but I have never needed google support.
I was wondering if you could just start with a brand new account as if you are a new customer. I would imagine that is not hard.

Tried, didn't work. Might be a security program in the latest iOS and I phone 15, numerous attempts prevents introduction of new account generation during setup. Beats me.
