I installed the Beck/Arnley spark plug wires. They aren't great, they're labeled Bosch and they're sized pretty badly. One wire is 10" too long and I'm not pleased with the fitment on the ends.

That's interesting. My BA wires fit well and were the proper length.

What part number did you order?

That car has half a million Kilometers on it and you are not pleased with how it looks? Man, for a known sludge engine with that many miles, I would be elated if I saw that myself.

Did the transmission show signs of a problem before you put that junk in there?

Why not just do a couple of drain and refills with the proper fluid?

Hope the transmission doesn't carp the bed shortly.

The previous owner drove the car today. He was floored by the difference between when he gave me the car (misfiring, down on power) and now (smooth, powerful)

I siphoned out about 2.8 quarts and refilled with valvoline maxlife dex/merc. I'll drive around for a bit and repeat. and I'll go pick up a new PCV valve now!

When I replaced the PCV in my dad's ES300, I accidentally cracked the generic replacement part. I would get a PCV from the dealer anyway, they are so much better. Also be ready to replace the PCV hose.

I'd just drive this car, your going to clean it until its broke. Old stuff doesn't always like to be cleaned.

That motor is fine too, I'd just run it.

A different engine but my Toyota 2.4L I4 is getting up there in miles. The Kreen did its job, however it exposed rubber problems throughout the engine (oil pan, valve cover, valve seals). Must have cleaned sludge and varnish that was plugging small holes. For whatever reason Toyotas love M1. Check the UOA's on here. Tried all oils, Mobil 1 High Mileage worked the best for cleaning and dealing with the leaks. been using M1 HM for 90k now, stays clean no varnish.

Another reason to AVOID things like MMO and Kreen.

If it ain't broke, DON'T fix it!!!!!

If the engine is performing well, and shows no sign of issues, leave it alone and just do regular oil changes.
