All fuel has some detergent - per the EPA. The minimum top tier spec really isn't all that much better if you actually look it up.I have noticed some stations such as circle k advertising that their fuel contains added cleaning elements while not being affiliated with top tier certification. Not just circle k but other brands as well.
I am inclined to believe you on this, however its been stated here on many occasions a couple brands do put markers in their add pack and get checked on occasion. Chevron and Shell I think is what is claimed. It may have changed, but in the past, the TT organization claimed that if the station is on their "list", they MUST sell Top Tier gasoline. My question, "or what?". There's no enforcement.
99.9%.90+ % of people don't care or more accurately, know what it means, so in the end, it means nothing.
I'll drive the extra 10 miles for the TT gas - - - not that other junk.Who cares about Top Tier? I care about price. The next town over from me has gas for 20 cents a gallon cheaper than my town. I drive the extra ten miles for the discount.
would be cheaper to stop at walmart and buy some techron.I'll drive the extra 10 miles for the TT gas - - - not that other junk.
Marketing works, there's no doubt about that.I'll drive the extra 10 miles for the TT gas - - - not that other junk.
Ten miles is nearly a gallon of gas for me. $.20 isn’t enough to offset the 20mi round trip cost.Who cares about Top Tier? I care about price. The next town over from me has gas for 20 cents a gallon cheaper than my town. I drive the extra ten miles for the discount.
I get 12 mpg on good day down hill with the engine off in my truck.Ten miles is nearly a gallon of gas for me. $.20 isn’t enough to offset the 20mi round trip cost.
I’m right there with you!I get 12 mpg on good day down hill with the engine off in my truck.
Casey’s isn’t certified, Marathon is. But when Casey’s 87 is 20 cents cheaper and 88 is 30 cents cheaper, my injectors care not but my wallet sure does!Who cares about Top Tier? I care about price. Gasbuddy is a personal privacy nightmare if you sign up and give them your info. The discounts also NEVER panned out for me and I got the gasbuddy card. The discounts never applied or saved up. I shredded that card and deleted my accounts. I used it for a year and got absolutely jack squat in return. I get better discounts with top tier brand loyalty apps.Casey’s isn’t certified, Marathon is. GasBuddy or Upside, paired with station specific discounts, nearly always nets me $0.50 or more per gallon in discounts.
Sorry you had that issue, but my experience has been nearly flawless. I’ve saved well over a thousand dollars in about 3+ years; it averages about $22/mo. I pair that with the station loyalty apps and it’s probably at least $50/mo in savings.Gasbuddy is a personal privacy nightmare if you sign up and give them your info. I was hoping that’s how it was going to work for me. It ended up being a complete travesty on my end. Regardless, take a look at the amount and types of data they collect on you. It’s nothing short of some of the deepest info collection you’ll experience. If you want more info, PM me. I work in I.T. Ya it does - - - and so does science >Marketing works, there's no doubt about that.
Not in Canada it won't.would be cheaper to stop at walmart and buy some techron.
Science vs experience. ....I think I will go with what I know to be true. I've had many high mileage vehicles over the years and the fuel brand never was a factor, just octane level.Ya it does - - - and so does science >
Funny eh?
I took my injectors out of a 280k engine last year to clean them and they all sprayed a perfect pattern. Cheap gas works just fine.Casey’s isn’t certified, Marathon is. But when Casey’s 87 is 20 cents cheaper and 88 is 30 cents cheaper, my injectors care not but my wallet sure does!

That must be how they come up with these mpg ratings on new vehicles because I never get the same results.I’m right there with you!![]()
It really depends on my traveled routes honestly. The more stoplights, the worse your mpg. Driving to work and spending most of it on base with few stoplights, I can always well exceed the factory mpg. Driving to work and spending most of it in town, I get the average or worse. That must be how they come up with these mpg ratings on new vehicles because I never get the same results.
