Install a fumoto drain valve and never have to change a gasket again.

I replaced a very few washers, ever. I probally replaced as many drain bolts as washers. When getting a new used car, a new drain bolt is pretty much a must-have. With a copper washer, you could re-anneal them.

I've never had to replace a drain plug washer unless somebody has previously screwed it up. If you don't over-tighten... they'll generally work again.

The drain plug on my truck has a one piece plug and rubber gasket. I did oil change today and found cracks in the gasket. I replace it every 3rd or 4th oci. Cheap insurance for $2.98.

Does anyone know what I should do about a car they don't make anymore, or service anymore? My sister has a 2001 Daewoo that uses a crush washer but the ones from my Acura/Honda don't fit. They don't have Daewoo dealerships anymore, and I'm not sure where I'm supposed to get them. The only place I've found them was through their oil change specials on the Daewoo clearance site, but they make you buy a bunch of other stuff just to get the washers... I've just been re-using the old one but I don't want it to leak.

Thanks, I think I'll just take it with me to Autozone or a similar store next time I do an oil change on that car, and see if they can find one that matches it exactly.

no one could tell me what size my vehicle took....so, i looked at the "quick drain" plugs for my specific vehicle and that indicated the size...then i was able to buy the right size at PB's
