We have a 2019 Jeep Compass Limited AWD lease vehicle with about 20K miles on it. The original tires are Continental ProContact TX 225/55R18 98H and have about 5 or 6/32" of tread left. One of them has a small screw in the shoulder and has been deemed unrepairable by 4 local tire shops.
Given that it's a lease vehicle with 13 months remaining, I don't really want to put on a set of 4 new tires. And if there is any chance of being able to turn it in without putting on new tires, I know that all four will have to be matching.
I figure my best option is to find a matching "take off" with about the same tread remaining and have found a shop with one that has 8 or 9/32". Is that close enough or will that difference risk damage to the drivetrain?
