Replacement Headlight Assemblies Failed < 1 Year Old

I have TYC lights in my Renault Megane and I’ve been very pleased with their performance.

The projector is a clear lense with a sharp cutoff as opposed to the original and I reckon is a brighter light.

Only thing I’ll ping them on is the electrical plug - it fits the factory loom’s connector fine and works well, but doesn’t click in nicely.

Is that a UV protectant? Would Aerospace 303 work instead?

Yes, and works on trim if it's new or in good condition. If the trim is weathered then start with Solution Finish to restore trim then lock in the results with DLUX. But with new headlights only use DLUX. Can last up to 8 years in the CA sun and not garage kept.

Lesson learned - CAPA-certified only from now on.

Both the "Various Manufacturers" and the replacement TYC lamp assemblies were made in Taiwan.

They appear to be identical. I'm hoping for the best with the TYC units. I still haven't done any night driving to compare the light quality.

Interestingly, many years ago Lamin-X recommended 303 AP to help maintain their headlight films. The UV protection was only good for 30 days though, less if it rains.

I'll look closely. Superficially they look identical.

Still waiting to do some night driving to see how the new (TYC) one compares to the no-name brand.
