Replace old charger selector knob?

I like the old way of building things that allows you to take that switch apart. You should be able to fix that with a little super glue.
OR
You could sell it at a garage sale and use the money to buy a new charger..

Yeah I typically just use automatic chargers.
If I have a completely dead battery that the auto charger won't recognize I either zap it with the manual charger
or briefly connect another good battery with jumper cables to the dead battery then remove jumper cables and let auto charger take over.

I replaced the switch on my 1970's Sears charger made by Century with the same switch and it works perfectly.

Go to the PLP site and they will tell you anything you want to know. I think the price was even a bit cheaper than Amazon.

Good Luck.

Working well now.
Good thing I read the instructions the wiring is not 1-1 2-2 etc
But rather 1to4 2to8 3to6 and 4to2
I even got a PLP can koozie
