Yes, I found Penrite 10 tenths 10-40 on special at $60 (5l). That is good enough for me so I bought a few. Got some for my Honda bike and changed the oil in my van. I would have put it in my VW R36 but it has just had a service and oil change.
For the cars I think the Penrite Premium 0 would be a better choice, but no one seems to even have it in stock, let alone on special!
Regarding the Repco synthetic, I think you would be correct as well. It's most likely Group 3.
