My RX is in the body shop for an unfortunate event with a rubber tie down strap. The metal hook went in my tire, and while spinning around (before I could pull over) did $1625.00 worth of damage to my fender, front bumper, and the bottom of my ps door.Any way,I have a 2010 Chevy Malibu now with the 2.4l four cylinder motor.,and I must say I`m impressed! seems like a nice little sedan with good power, according to the mpg computer its getting 21.8mpg.If GM keeps up the good work, they will be back with a vengeance!

Thanks for the postive feedback. That carries a lot of weight coming from a Lexus owner!

<22mpg from the 4-banger? Not impressed. If I'm going to put up with a buzzy, comparatively underpowered 4 it had better be pushing 30mpg.

Well thats true, but dont forget I have no Idea how it was driven before I rented it. And I`m used to 18-19.5 mpg`s. Plus the oil monitor say`s 29% and has 6600 miles on it.I`m sure up on the highway it would be much better.Another interesting thing is,(I had some time on my hands)in the OM it states; "if towing a trailer,or for better performance, the use of 89 octane fuel is recommended" interesting huh?

This 4cyl has plenty of get up and go! 2.4 is a good size four cylinder.

I would expect more than 22 mpg, but if you are fighting heavy congestion, perhaps not. 18-19.5 sounds low too. Only a hybrid is going to get much millage in stop and go.

The 18-19.5 is what I get out of mine just going back and forth to work etc. on the Highway the highest I got so far (with mine) is 23.0

5 speed.(in my RX,I dont know what the Malibu has) just has D and M for manual driving.

Also with the 6 speed the 2.4 feels like a v6 engine. Well unless you compare it to my moms aura with the 3.6 and the 6 speed which just flys. 0 to 60 in 6.1 seconds on that one.

I am pretty sure if you don't have the tap shifters and the M mode you have the 4 speed.

If you're strictly in the city doing stop light to stop light then that's prolly all you'll get out of it.

I'm holding this months issue of Motortrend and it's rated 22/33

It`s got the + paddles on the steering wheel. And I like the way this shift`s on it`s own, nice quick/crisp shifts. Thats one thing I wish my RX was like, instead of the smooth, some what lazy shifts it has.
