My regular contacts are fine. It is only when I use Verizon Messenger + that I have a contact in that particular app listed as many as 6 times. I've googled and googled til I'm googled out. Do you have any suggestions? I know it is not the phone. It is the app from Verizon. I just got my phone up and running last night so I don't have a problem starting over.

My suggestion is to disable that trash Verizon app and use Android's stock Messenger.
I've had some really weird bugs with that app. I removed it and am using Textra now.
Once in a while I try it again because I really like the web page preview feature, but I always end up deleting it again, because either an old unfixed bug, or some new bug pops up.

I have a love/hate relationship with Verizon Messenger. The phone app is clunky, the web app is clunky, but it has a web app. The web and phone don't always sync together either.
I keep meaning to try Google Fi to see how it works and this was my way of keeping all my Verizon stuff and not telling everyone to contact a different number.
