Removing broken bolt

So I can't put it off any longer. In the fall I took the cylinder head off the briggs to clean it out. Put it back on. Well, one of the small bolts holding the front of the shroud on... Well, when I tightened it down (not even that tight) the bolt head sheared off the rest of the bolt. Uh oh. I decided since I was putting it away I'd worry about it in the spring. Well it's almost spring. Anyone have any ideas how to get this thing out? Looking at this picture, it is one of the small bolts holding the shroud to the cylinder head, above the row of 3.

Make sure to use a center punch so the bit doesn't slip. If the bit slips, you can angle the drill to work your way back to the center of the broken bolt. Careful how hard you handle things, that dogear with the bolt hole through it will break right off.
 
I always try the easiest method first. IF the broken bolt is NOT recessed, try taking a sharp, metal chisel and small hammer and catch the outside edge of the bolt and tap/unscrew it out. You would be surprised how often the bolt is sitting loose in the hole.

I have removed hundreds of broken bolts by welding a knob to the bolt then using a vise grip type pliers, or welding a nut to the knob and screwing the bolt out.
 
If you have a stub to work with, you could probably use a good pair of vice-grip type pliers, and turn it right out.

Or weld an old screwdriver onto it.

Should have done a better job of explaining this. I TIG weld directly to the stud and start building up with filler rod a stub high enough to use vise grips or weld a nut to the stub.
 
Just one of the bolts that holds the flywheel cover on? I'd leave it and forget about it.

I'm not sure, but I think it also holds the cylinder head to the block. I'd have to look at it again and it's in the shed and snowing. I'll bring it out in march to look at.
 
I have used EZ outs only twice with disasterous results both times. Instead, I recommend drilling out the bolt. Use a 1/8 for a pilot hole then 7/32 or similar undersize that wont mess up the threads. use a pick or tweaker screwdriver to pull/push the remains out of the threads.
