Remington Thunderbolt is some dirty stuff

Went to the range yesterday with my son. Shot 50 rounds of .38 from both of my 2" revolvers... Taurus M85UL and Colt Detectives Special. Shot the New Republic JRN. This box was 100%... previous boxes had 4-5/100 duds. Not good.
Moved on to the 25 yard range with my TX22 TORO and the tree.
I brought about 120 rounds of Remington Thunderbolt. I don't know if it was the 97% humidity and 90 degree temperature or what but was noticing how much smoke that Thunderbolt produces with every round. The TX22 generally likes it. Maybe 5 FTF in 120 rounds or so.
I probably have about 1500 rounds of it left.

I went through a box of 500 at the range and I was shocked to have no more than a couple jams or FTF in the whole box. Better than the Aguila or CCI mini mags I normally use. Thunderbolts get a lot of hate but maybe it depends on when they were made or something
That could be. These TX22s have a pretty well established reputation for plowing through almost anything including Thunderbolt... assuming the magazines are clean and dry lubed. I've not tried the Aguila yet. Everything I have is Remington, Federal and some CCI.
I save the CCI for my Henry AR7. My Ruger 10/22 shoots anything.

A stash of Remington Thunderbolt .22's is a good excuse to buy a nice .22 revolver.

I got 1000 rnds of Winchester M22's which are IMO even worse than thunderbolts.. My kid is using them up in a Chipmunk .22 and they are even annoying in a single shot rifle.

Federal/CCI/Aguila .22's are all I'll buy. Never a problem with any of them.

I have a .22 revolver. A Taurus M94 pre lock. I knew I'd never get through my .22 inventory with just it, my Ruger 10/22 and my Henry AR7 so I bought the Taurus TX22 TORO. It has helped immensely to alleviate my inventory concerns.

I haven't had any problems with Thunderbolts. Not my first choice in 22LR ammo and a little dirty, but it has been reliable and accurate in my 10/22. I put anything CCI or Blazer at the top of my plinking list, then Remington, followed by Federal. Winchester is dead last. I find anything Federal or American Eagle to be clean but less accurate in my 10/22 due to the slightly smaller diameter of the lead bullet.

I chewed through multiple bricks of Thunderbolts and many buckets of Golden Bullets with the only problems being dirty fingers.

I step up on the quality scale for my Marlin bolt action 22LR for bullseyes at 100 yards.

The 10/22 is a masterpiece. I put a $40 Pointy optic on mine. I could spend most of any day shooting it at the steel dueling tree I bought.
And you're right, it shoots anything I load it's magazines with. The Uplula for the 25 round mags is a must have.

I have neer thought of Remington ammo as any good. CoreLokt for instance will go bang, but that is about it.

1022s are blowback design, which is inherently dirty in the action. Not really the fault of ammo. Revolvers are not known for cleanliness.

I had bought some Thunderbolt maybe 20 years ago, and that was enough for me. CCIs are my fave.
