Thought to start a thread where BITOG members share an old saying that is meaningful/ helpful, etc.

Here is one. Looking forward to reading what you share/ post:

"He who represents himself has a fool for a client".

The above is in reference to a defendant representing themselves in court.

A few my great-grandmother used to say:

"The highway opens for he who waits, if he who waits, waits long enough"

"You have in our mouth what I wouldn't want in my hands"

"You lie and I'll swear to it"

"What is this dot com crap?"
 
Our motto at work:
You can lead a horse to water but if his head is firmly up his rear end he is likely to die of thirst anyway.

From my dad:
Poor people have poor ways, and poor ways makes poor people.

My grandfather would say this about things that didn't work well or were broken.

"that's as handy as a busted door knob on an outhouse door..."
