The Marshall reman engine for my Jeep should arrive at the repair shop this week. I have read the instructions from Marshall. Aside from obvious things like filters, oil, plugs, what else is mandatory to replace and is not included with the new engine? How about the oil pick-up w/screen. The old engine seized up, from a piston skirt breaking off (so they think).

I wonder if the special high ZDDP break in oils are advantageous even to stock OHV flat cams. That might be a good item to go along with a reman engine.

I got the engine through RockAuto for $1575 I believe. Then add core & shipping but subtract the 5% discount. The same engine with the oil filter at an angle is $200 less. I assume there is more to the engine difference than whether the filter is straight out or at an angle.

RockAuto was less than direct from Marshall. And less than Jasper. Marshall says they have sold 200K reman engines so they must be doing something right.

we charge about $2500.00 for that engine complete with installation and one year unlimited mileage warranty so you did good on the price

x2. Buy a new pump from the dealer. The aftermarket pumps are having problems with the impeller falling off. I'd buy a new radiator unless yours is almost new.

Good call on the break in oil or atleast a ZDDP addative.

I know of a 4.0 marshall reman with 180,000 miles on it and no problems, leaks, etc.. owner is very, very happy with it.
