I typically set the speed limit, and lock the autothrottle to it. Sometimes the autothrottle setting and my driving will put me in the left lane right next to a car that is doing the same. Some idiot driving behind me at 20% above the legal maximum speed shouldn't force *me* to burn more fuel to accomodate his/her wasteful and illegal driving habits.

Then pull over out of the passing lane, or is your point to control other drivers.
Drive on the right, pass on the left.

The law is the law. If the signage says 65mph, you have absolutely no right whatsoever to go any more than 65mph and shouldn't expect the priviledge to be granted to you. If one exceeds the legal maximum speed, and causes an accident, and if such is detected through either the car's event recorder, or through physical accident scene investigation, the driver is open to not only criminal liability, but also tort liability as the result of negligent and illegal behaviour.

As for cars exceeding the speed limit, thats what red flashing lights are for. If people don't like speed limits or the laws, or don't feel they are reasonable, then they should exercise their priviledge at the ballot box to elect people who see things their way. See, for example, the State of Montana.

And just how do you react to getting flipped the bird? Maybe youve been lucky and thats all thats happened to you...but if it werent for people like you, road rage cases/incidents probably wouldnt exist.

Get out of the left lane, its not there for your own personal power trip...we are adults and we dont need hall monitors like you anymore.

And really, how do you react to angry motorist that do give you the finger? What kinda feeling do you get? What goes through your mind? Id really like to know since you are an admited left laner and have never had the oppritunity to find out *** you people are thinking(if at all) because it does seem rather senseless as well as unsafe reguardless of what you may think(for the rest of us).

Get a grip, you're just as bad as he is. The highway doesn't belong to you either. He want's to cruise the left lane, you want to ignore the speed limit.

A law where if someone is impedeing traffic you video them with timestamp, speed, plate number and the idiot driving, and be able to turn that in to traffic enforcement for a cut of the fine.
That would straighten out these types of drivers double quick, especially when the word would get out, anyone could be a potential video enforcer.
This could also work with car pool lane jumpers, on ramp metered lane jumpers, and any 'all about me' drivers out there.

How about the same procedure for those exceeding the speed limit?

I think speed limit enforcement ought to be left up to the people who have the proper calibrated equipment to determine if someone is indeed speeding.

Welp ..I think that we've had our limits for moral judgements. I'll just leave you with my philosophy ..it works whether you drive fast, slow, or in between.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way! It works everytime.
