Regular microguard from oreilly or autozone blue STP

I have used both on my Nissan PU without any issues but I did not do an external side by side comparison. It's my understanding that the wix microgard is made by a third party, but then again, STP doesn't make any of it's own filters, everything is farmed out to others.
I would go with Microgard because I do more business with O'Reilly than any of the other parts stores. It's closer to my house. I might go with the STP if it was significantly cheaper. Either will work fine for non-extended OCIs.
I just pull an STP XL off my Mazda and did a cut and paste on it. Look very good to me but I think they raised their prices.
I have not used the MG in several years but I have installed many basic STP filters over the years. This filter is made by Champ (and identical to ACDelco) for many applications and works very well for manufacturer-recommended OCIs.
Of course (like all store brands), the manufacturer/COO can change in a moment's notice, so if this is a concern it is worth checking each model before buying.

It is amazing the PRC made filters have reached pretty much USA prices. More than an Ultra, which is usually $8.97. The port fees are passed on to us. Well, not me. I get them on most everything else though.
My car, bought new to me, had a Microgard regular on it. Car ran great, and I think it is made by Wix in USA? I put all kinds of others on, maybe I should go back to it. The search for I’m done now found my filter never really is done.

Greedy sellers are not ones I want to buy from, but most are probably greedy. Fram Ultra made in USA for $8.97 is actually not bad at all. Except for the new issues. Which I saw up close more than expected. Still have an Ultra on a car, other one got a Motorcraft I had awhile.
If they made the filter clean I probably wouldn’t even complain about the bumpy leak spring.
You showed a xg3600 on a Tacoma, why not see what a new one looks like? They seem all over the board according to model.
All the STP filters I see here are from China. They may be ok but I have my reasons to try to not buy stuff from China if I can help it.

I got you. I will buy China stuff if it is cheap, but not at the same price or more as something made here.
I have two 4612 standard filter cases. One made in China, the other Vietnam. I imagine quality is good in each.
