Regional posting section for BITOG?

I saw that there is a meeting in IL soon, wish I could attend.

Other forums have regional sections where people can discuss local topics and set up meetings. I think that would be pretty cool for this site.

It wouldn't even have to be multiple forums for each region, just one, where people could post "Check in for Tri-State area" and people would respond therein.

What do you think? I would love to meet some NYC/LI members and shoot the breeze.

I think the beauty of BITOG is that I can see coments from every region of the world without having to go to a single blog. If this was a car club, it could very well have regional issues requiring separate venues. Here, at BITOG I can learn of lube oil and car problems the world over. If I want to follow a certain members posts, it can be done with the tools provided. IMO, lets keep it wide open. FWIW--Oldtommy

Tommy, I don't think the OP is suggesting to start discussing oil issues on a regional level. He's asking for a regional forum where users could post about regional activities, get togethers, events, etc. Such activities are much easier to organize on a local level rather than country-wide, hence we haven't had one in 10 years.

There is nothing stopping one from creating a post titled "Check in for Tri-State area" in the off-topic forum right now, but such posts may get easily lost among all other OT threads, so it would make sense to have them in their own subforum.
