Today, more than a month after ordering my pistol and an extremely unpleasant experience with a well known gun store as the FFL who sent the pistol back to the seller, I got my gun through an independent guy who is an FFL holder.

I still haven't fired my CZ-82 - will probably do it this weekend. Mechanically, the handgun seems good. It's a military surplus pistol and is built well. The safety is quite intuitive, and the double and single action is very easy. The grip is fat due to the double stacked magazine so I do not expect red palms because of recoil.

My main problem is the aesthetic. The metal parts are actually painted and because of wear the paint is chipped. A small piece of the grip below the safety switch is broken as well.

I don't know if I should buy Duracoat for 30+ dollars and refinish the gun or be my usual self and use a cheaper paint on primer.

I also need to get a lubricant. I read here earlier that some posters use Mobil 1 to lubricate the moving parts... Any opinions?

You get what you pay for. But, appearances aside the gun should do what you want it to: go bang!

And use a good quality gun lube, not engine oil.

The AR15 guys like Mobil as a lube because it sticks to the metal and has high heat tolerance.

I think pistols fare better with grease.

I think I did read about that sometime over on AR15.com. Not sure if I buy into it, however.
