Hello, I have searched all over this forum, and I have gathered a lot of info.

I just want some opinions from redline users and non users

I have a 04 lincoln LS with a Jag V8 motor

Is Redline the best oil out there (thats easy to get)
I use Royal Purple now.

thanks guys.

Not sure what the previous post means....

No way of telling since you haven't described your driving circumstances.

For shorts trips and casual driving probably not a good choice from a "value" standpoint.

the car is my daily driver, but i drive very hard, (even more so on the weekends) some short trips.

I am not looking for value or saving money, i just want the best money can buy.

This is just my opinion so take it for what you think it's worth. I don't know if it's the best for your application but it's as good as anything else out there that you could use, and IMHO it is a better product than the one you are using now.

I have used Redline in my 32 valve, double overhead cam, aluminum v8 for most of its 216,880 miles.....runs lke brand new, uses no oil, zero smoke at startup or any other time, and looks clean through the fill hole....have never had any mechanical problem with the engine, never. My oil changes are generally every 5-7 thousand miles.

I also use Redline d4 ATF and their gear oil, tranny shifts like new also at 216,880 miles {never had any internal problems or repair/rebuild}...rear diff is smooth and quiet.Power steering also gets D4, and again, zero problems on original pump and non.leaking rack! Yes,I am a longtime fan of Redline, with results to backup my opinion

Did he say his engine was neglected and dirty? Auto RX is one of the most oversold products looking for a solution on this board. The main benefit is to the bottom line of the manufacturer, not to your engine.

Redline is an excellent Group V oil, advantageous for hot running and turbo charged engines.

Royal Purple is an excellent Group IV oil, perfectly suited for your particular engine.

RP oil is getting to be easier to find as large chains are starting to stock it.

Mobil 1 TDT (Turbo Diesel Truck) or Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40 synthetic is one of the best.

The critical lube points on a IC engine are ALL areas of boundry lube conditions and as such have NO buildup of dirt, contaminats etc. though hard debris will impregnate soft bearing overlay etc in that at start up and under various conditions when running the bearing or sliding area will be at metal to metal thus scrubbing debris away.

This is where a good oil with high FM qulities will reduce friction wear and increase fuel mileage. IMHO other than heat transfer reduction or possible clogging of oil galleries buildup in NON contact or rubbing areas is not a related to engin wear or perfromance.

Thanks so far for all the info. I lookforward to more.

For extra info, my motor runs like brand new, and the fill hole and dip stick are very clean(look like new)

I want to stick to 5w20(what the car specs) and I have heard the redline 5w20 is VERY good.

There is a speed shop that stocks all redline oil near my house(146 quarts of 5w20) :) I am going to head over there friday and buy 6 qts.

more info/opinions are welcomed and appreciated.

6 quarts? GO LARGE!!!! I usually have 4-10 CASES of various Redline products stashed on my shelf!!! Seems when I get down to only 4 cases left, the shelf is unhappy, and I feed it about half a dozen new cases to keep it happy!!! I love looking at all those pretty red boxes on my shelf!

yea, i am sure i will be buying cases soon enough!!!!

I want to try it so im gonna just get 6 qts, for now.
The speed shop is only 11 miles from my house, so its nice i dont have to order it online.

My buddy is gonna want to use it in his 2.2 eco tec, so I will end up buying a case anyway!!

Both in the book, and on the oil filler cap, it says 5w20.

Its a small 3.9L v8, but man is it smooth and man dose it lay down some rubber!!!

I am only 20 and a "old man lincoln"(coined by my friends) was not at the top of my shopping list, I have had a 97 BMW M3 and a 04 Mazda Rx-8, so when i was shopping for my new car I knew what i was looking for. I came across the lincoln ls in the lot, while looking at a 300zx. I test drove it and that was it! told them to detail it and i picked it up the next day.

Sorry for the long and irrelevent rant

My father just traded in the 2000LS v8; that car was awesome. Even after 8 years it still was rock solid both in handling and build quality. I could easily drive 500 miles a day if I had to in that car.

You should've bought it from him. I like those cars, too.

Was it a TT or an N/A? On the subjects of Lincols, someday I want to find a mint 1969 Mark III.

Redline 5W30 was subjectively the best oil in our Outback, quietest and best economy. Don't use the engine oil but do use the gear and p/s oils in the Outback and BMW. Have RL MT90 for Mazda g'box after rebuild.
