Redline 5w40 . . . how does it compare?

BlueWorld asked for an example of Motul 8100 0W-40 sheering. Here is one example. This is to be expected in almost any 0W-40 oil due to the higher amount of VI improvers. If the OCI is really long like >10k miles, the oxidative thickening can counteract the sheering that occurs earlier in the OCI. Many believe that some oils (like M1 0W-40) are designed this way on purpose so that at the end of a really long OCI, the viscosity is "in-grade". I'm not saying that sheering is the end of the world...just saying it's ideal if it doesn't occur and their are oils that don't significantly sheer. http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=001229#000000

crew219, glad you are leaning toward GC now. Look at it's properties and mighty approval listing. Don't hold Gold GC's non-green color against it. That's oil racism.

Judging by the VOA/UOA date, and the VOA TBN, it's pretty clear this is not the current (significantly) reformulated 8100 0w40.
