What are your thoughts on running Redline 5w-20 in an LS2 chevy motor? It's specs call for a 30 weight but I read Redline 5w-20 has HTHS which is superior to many 30 weight oils. Thoughts?

Probably as long as you aren't tracking the vehicle, with your weather in SF, no problem, IMO.

However, if tracking. Stick with 5w30 RL. IMO...

I think it would work pretty well. HT/HS is 3.3, higher than M1/Amsoil 30 grades.

The HTHS is higher on 10w30 Amsoil Z-Rod at 3.6! Also the NOACK is 5.2%.

The Z-Rod sounds fantastic in my LS2; quietter valve train noise than the 5w30 Mobil 1.

I highly recommend Z-Rod for the LS2 engine.
