Blackstone says the lead count could be particle streak?? Whatever that means. This oil was in use for 5 months with alot of Dallas traffic and a few FAST trips to Denver

From Blackstone FAQ.

Lead shot up in my last report. You said I might have a particle streak through the bearings. What is that?

A particle streak occurs when a very small piece of dirt gets lodged in the bearings and spins around, gouging out a streak of lead, before becoming dislodged. A particle streak will cause a temporary increase in lead, and then once the dirt leaves the system, lead drops back down

Looks very good. Pb should settle down after a few more intervals.

This is the typical spike you see in Pb from the first time use of RL in engines having certain types of bearing metallurgy. However note how low the hard metal wear is, ie Fe and Cr.

You can expect the Pb levels to stabilize after 1-2 more runs with the RL.

This was the first run of Redline in the Accord. I'm on my third run on our Pilot. I had thought about changing the oil in the Pilot at 5000 (before our trek to the east in the heat and with a car top carrier) but after this report I will leave it in. I am happy with Redline.

I was going to suggest it might be time for an air filter change, though, as both your silicon and sodium shot up in this last OCI. But checking a VOA on Red Line's 10W-40 I see that it's pretty high in both right out of the bottle. Plus, I don't see any other wear metals that would be correlated with increased dirt ingress.

Good report!

Well, there's your RedLine magic for you -- high moly, calcium, phosphorous and zinc.

Pretty hard to beat that combination, especially with an ester basestock helping stuff stay clean.

Three SUS viscosities for four oils? Which belongs to what?

Give Havoline 5w-20 a try. Lower your lead and iron and save.
